The workout videos are so easy to follow and include basic exercises most people are familiar. The 21 Day Fix program comes with six workouts on two DVDs plus the bonus workout, the Dirty 30. The workouts are only about 30 minutes long and are ideal for anyone that leads a busy lifestyle and/or has little time to squeeze in a workout due to family or work demands. The only equipment necessary to complete the workouts is a variety of small free weights and a resistance band. Once you receive the 21 Day Fix and have your containers, all you need to do is fill it with delicious, healthy food and eat what you can fit into them. There is no need to worry about fat, calories, carbohydrates, sugar content or any other number for that matter. What is Included in the 21 Day Fix Program?
 21 Day Fix Workouts:
The Total Body Cardio Fix is a fast paced cardio workout that can be done with your own body weight or can also be done with weights and/or resistance bands to up the intensity. The 30 minutes include two exercises done for four rounds. There is a short 20 second rest period in between each round for recovery. The purpose of the Total Body Cardio Fix is to give you a whole body cardio workout while toning every muscle from head to toe.

The Upper Fix works the upper body, including arms, chest, shoulders and abs. You can use weights and resistance bands with this workout as well or you can simply use your own body weight. There are five exercises that will be done for two rounds with a 20 second rest period in between. You can expect to do push-ups, scissor twists, planks and presses, among others.
The Lower Fix workout focuses on the lower body, with a special focus on most women’s problem areas, the legs and buttocks. Once again, you will be doing two rounds of exercises with a rest period in between that is 20 seconds long. Everything from your calves to your buttocks will be sore after completing this 30 minute workout.

The Pilates Fix focuses mostly on floor exercises that include basic Pilates moves to strengthen your core, elongate your muscles and firm up your lower body.

The Cardio Fix is a workout based on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) similar to Shaun T’s workouts in the Insanity and Focus T25 programs. It involves minute long bursts of very intense exercise with 20 second rest periods in between for recovery. Explosive, plyometrics moves such as skater jumps and box jumps are mixed with classics such as jumping jacks and push-ups to give you a sweat inducing, calorie torching workout for the entire 31 minute length of the DVD.

Although the Yoga Fix seems less intense than the others, it is by no means an easy workout. It involves plenty of stretching to help recover from the week of more grueling activity, and is to be done on the seventh day of the week in addition to one of the other videos.

In addition to the six workouts already included with the 21 Day Fix Program, you will also receive the Dirty 30 Workout to add to your fitness routine as a bonus gift. Insanity Max 30

What Exactly is Insanity Max 30?

You all know Shaun T ~ creator of Hip Hop Abs, Rockin Body, Insanity, Insanity the Asylum, T25 and now Insanity Max30.  T25 was the program I started with last January! I loved the program, and I really like Shaun T.... so I am super pumped for this workout.


Insanity Max 30 includes 150 NEW MOVES to help you dig a little deeper and get your body in the very best shape of your life! This workout combines CARDIO and STRENGTH TRAINING without using any equipment at all!!! HOW?? Your body is your equipment for this workout!  That is all you need! SCORE! 

The program is 60 days long and is broken down into month 1 and month 2. The workouts are all 30 minutes each with a 10 minute Ab workout.  This program is not about making it all the way through the entire 30 minutes, but to "MAX OUT" and GO HARD until you have to take a break! THEN you aim to increase that time the next day.


Who can do Insanity Max:30?

To Max Out means to stop or fail for the first time in the workout.  It's really not about getting through all 30 minutes.  It's about going as hard as you can for as long as you can, until you MAX OUT.  Write down the time take a break, and then you want to jump back into the workout.  If you stay committed and push to your max you will add more time each week with the workouts!

Peanut Butter & Strawberry Oatmeal

Thumbs Up Breakfast!!!! Besides Shakeology, Oatmeal is my next go to breakfast. In the winter months or when I just want something really warm and filling, this is my go to meal. 

What you'll need: (Fixers: 1 Yellow, 1/4 Purple, 1 Tsp)

1/2 cup of quick oats or steel cut oats
1/4 cup of strawberries cubed
1tsp Peanut Butter (2g sugar or less.... PB2 is a great option)

Make oats as directed. Add in peanut butter while hot to mix well..... if using PB2, you may need to add a few drops of water. Add in cut up strawberries! 

This is absolutely delicious and the right amount of protein and complex carbs. Start your morning right :) 





Ginger Chicken

So I love Chinese food but it is loaded with sodium. Every time I eat it, my fingers swell and I usually feel terrible later, so I set out to make my own yumminess. My husband is really the cook in this family and I don't do very good just coming up with recipes by throwing stuff together but... it worked this time ;)

What you'll need: ( Fix Count: 1 Red, 1 Yellow, 1 Tsp) 
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast or Tenderloins
3 Tbsp EVOO
3 Tsp Fresh Ginger
Powdered Ginger (optional)
Brown Rice
Braggs Liquid Aminos (optional)

First I heated the Extra Virgin OIive Oil and fresh Ginger in a pan on low heat, just until the Ginger mixed in a little. I placed my thawed Chicken Breasts in a non stick 9x13 pan. I added a little Organic Low Sodium Chicken Broth (found at Meijer-Pacific brand) in the bottom of the pan so the ginger wouldn't burn. I then slathered the ginger mix over the chicken breasts and poured left over mixture in the bottom of the pan. I also sprinkled a little ginger powder on the top of the chicken.


Bake at 400 degrees for 55 minutes (at 20 minutes I started checking every 10 min to make sure they weren't burning) I do believe these took much longer because the chicken was very thick. After the chicken was cooked fully, I measured the chicken in my protein Fix container. I made a side of brown rice while the chicken was baking and measured that in my carb Fix container. (I do leave the fat on the chicken for flavor and trim off before eating)



Now I have to say a few things..... I know the containers look small, but they are actually a very full serving. I made my bowl and put it in the fridge to eat after my Fit Club. My husband thought the bowl was for him so he ate that and was full after eating it..... the guy usually eats like a horse so.... believe me when I say it will fill your belly up. I personally will spray a little Braggs Liquid Aminos for the brown rice but its not needed. I usually use a spray or 2.


Lastly, I am definitely going to try this in the crockpot next time. That way it can cook all day while I am at work and make it alot faster! You could scramble some egg whites, and green onion or pepper to throw in and make it more of a fried rice type too! Or sautee some Bok Choy in olive oil or ginger to make it more Asian Cuisine! The extras are endless :)

Procrastination...And How I Beat It

Many people have a very hard time keeping with a fitness program and/or nutritious eating. The reason typically is 1 of a few things: 1). They don't have a WHY for doing it 2). They lack accountability and 3). They don't make time for it. A lot of people ask me all the time how I keep going, or why I am OBSESSED with working out. Let me clarify a few things, maybe it is an obsession I don't know.... I can tell you what I am obsessed with: waking up feeling good every morning, waking up healthy and starting my day right so that my mind is clear before the negativity seeps in, my family and keeping up with the active lifestyle that we all entail with children. In our lives, its so easy to get wrapped up in taking kids here and there and we are flat out exhausted every night, rightfully so. I was just like many of you wondering about how to beat procrastination... well, this is how I overcame it. This is 100% how it happened for me. You've heard it before and you will hear it several more times because it is the truth:

1). I joined a Challenge Group. I failed several times in these groups quitting or not keeping up with my wkouts b/c I was busy and had EVERY excuse in the book. My Coach and my fellow Challengers checked in on me, and kept me inspired whether I chose at that moment to accept it or not. They never gave up on ME.

2). After I made the decision to commit and change my life, I wrote out my WHY and my GOALS. My WHY was bigger than anything. I wanted to be able to run my kids rampid without being exhausted. I wanted to be the Mom my Mom was to me. I wanted to be someone my kids were proud of. Not by shape or size, but that I was FUN and could keep up with them. I didn't want to be the parent to come home from work BURNED out and sit on the couch wishing I had the energy to play with my kids. I wanted to plain and simple feel good. And the carbs, junk food, and everything else shoveling in was not making
me feel good. Nor was I setting the best example for my children.

3). I wasn't finding time to workout. I had to MAKE time. I am a scheduler and write everything down. I swear I think I will forget to do laundry if I don't write it down ;) My friends know my crazy notebook I carry with me..... but it works for me. Every morning I write down that I workout. It gets done, the alarm is set for early in the morning, and I have an accountability partner that I text in the morning to say my hiney is up and moving! It works...... Now there are times I hit snooze, not often but times. I use that accountability partner to text at night saying OK I got it in and I have my Challenge Group to check in every night real quick saying how I did. Don't find time, MAKE time. You make time to eat, you make time to work, you make time for all sorts of things right? Make time for yourself. Its 30 minutes.

Now I know you can say easier said then done. It truly is up to you to make the first choice, that first decision that you are done and you are ready to make that change. That's the one thing I love about my job as a coach, once you make that decision, you have me to help you get started and to keep you accountable for as long as it takes! 21 Day Fix-1st Round

 
I am so excited that I completed my first round of this program. These last 3 weeks I have learned ALOT! I was always eating clean, however portion control even on healthy food is needed.

Many people think if they workout every day, they can eat whatever they want, but are confused on why they are unable to reach their goal weight/body.
This program is designed to help you balance each important area that is needed to help you achieve your overall goals.
This is like having the best of both worlds... You will get a nutrition guide to help tell you what to eat and when, an exercise program along with a schedule that tells you when to do each workout, and you even get the containers for your food!

Shakeology definitely helped clear up cellulite and firm my skin. I can honestly say that incorporating this meal replacement into my diet, I have never felt better. I get my daily dose of vitamins, super foods, and nutrition that I couldn't possibly purchase or eat per day. When your body is nourished with the right vitamins and foods, it responds, and helps you restore your muscle tissue to keep moving. I am more alert, I feel better, my allergies have cleared up, and I just overall feel so much better!

Here is a front picture of my belly and side by side view from the 21 Day Fix. Did I tell you I was able to eat chocolate and have some vino (wine) on this program as well? Its all about balance and portion control :P I lost 10 pounds and 14 inches total off of my body. My thighs are more toned, my bootay is perkier, and my waist definitely toned down.


I finished day 21, and allowed myself to indulge at my cousins Baby Shower as my actual "Cheat" Meal. I started round 2 today, and cant wait to see where I am with my Operation Abs.
